Many districts of Kyiv are facing critical conditions due to the lack of heating and electricity.
"We stay warm with tea, a hot-water bottle, and a cat," Yevheniia Martyniuk says, describing her routine amid prolonged power and heating outages in Kyiv. In an effort to preserve warmth, she built a makeshift structure from pillows which, according to her, helps her endure the cold. Inside her apartment, temperatures range from 9 to 11°C, while nighttime temperatures outside fall to -10°C.
Following a large-scale Russian strike on energy infrastructure earlier this month, thousands of Kyiv residents have spent more than three weeks without reliable electricity and, as a result, without heating.
In apartment blocks, residents are forced to sleep fully clothed, seek alternative heating methods, or leave their homes in search of support.
