Oleksii “Kir” was severely wounded and lay on the front line for a day. He stepped on a mine and sustained blast injuries and multiple shrapnel wounds, including to his face. He lost one eye and likely the vision in the other.
Medics from the 5th Separate Assault Brigade evacuated Oleksii to a stabilization point in a near-unconscious condition.
The work of combat medics at stabilization points has become more difficult due to the intensity of enemy shelling and the use of drones by Russian forces. Medics are increasingly forced to operate under time constraints, with limited resources, and under the constant threat of strikes, significantly increasing the pressure and risks faced by medical teams.
